I'm a Salesforce developer, and I'm building this for admins and for the people who send admins requests. Most changes are small, but making them safely still takes a developer. I want you to be able to make the change yourself and see what it will do before it goes live.
You don't need to know how Salesforce is built. It tells you what changes, who will notice, and what you need to decide first.
Quotes get a new “Discount approved” checkbox that only sales managers can tick. A quote with more than 20% discount can't be saved until it's ticked.
Sales reps and sales managers.
A sandbox: a practice copy of your Salesforce. Your live Salesforce isn't touched until you approve.
If a request would delete data, break something that already works, or change who can see what, it stops and gives you safer ways to get what you wanted.
3,402 accounts have a Region value, and two reports and one automation still use it. Removing the field deletes its values from every account. Salesforce keeps a deleted field for 15 days; after that the values are gone.
The change goes to the practice copy first. Automatic checks run, and test users, like a sales rep and a sales manager, go through the quote screens the way real people would, including the screens around the change, to check that nothing nearby broke. Then it's your turn.
Open the sandbox as a sales rep and try it on a real-looking quote.
It won't delete data or fields unless you choose that yourself. A change to who can see what also needs a second person you choose, like the admin who owns security. Your live Salesforce changes only after the checks pass and you have tried the change and approved it. Afterwards it looks at your live Salesforce to confirm the change is there and working.
It isn't ready to use yet. If you'd like to try it when it is, leave your email. And if you tell me which change you wait on most, that's what I'll make work first.
